After qualifying from Cambridge, Chris trained in Newcastle, becoming a Consultant Hepatologist at the Freeman Hospital and, in 2000, Professor of Liver Medicine at Newcastle University. He was the Goulstonian Lecturer of the Royal College of Physicians (1999) and has been awarded the research gold medal of the British Society of Gastroenterology. He is currently Vice-Chancellor and President of Newcastle University. Non-Executive Director. Derek Foster (now Lord Foster of Bishop Auckland) is Bishop Auckland’s longest serving MP, having held the seat for 26 years. Lord Foster was Labour’s Chief Whip from 1985-1995, and became a Life Peer in 2005. His political interests include youth affairs, education and training, regional policy, socialist enterprise, transport, economics, finance, small businesses, education. He has been a non-executive director for HBI since it’s inception in 2006. Non-Executive Director. After graduating with an MA in History from Edinburgh University, David joined Lloyds Bank as a graduate trainee spending the majority of the next 35 years as a Relationship Director working with mid corporate businesses across the North East region in many different sectors. During this time he also delivered a Business Advisory service to Bank customers. Having retired from banking in December 2011, he is delighted to have joined the excellent team at HBI and looks forward to supporting their exciting growth plans for the business. Operations Director. Graduating from Liverpool University in 1995, with BSc Hons in Cell Biology, Beverley has worked in a number of roles within the biotech industry, encompassing production, product development and extensive travel overseas. Having been with HBI since it's inception in 2006, she joined the board of directors in 2009.
